Rick Guggolz, vice president of association management firm Drohan Management Group, died June 25 after suffering a heart attack while playing basketball with friends. He was 57.

Guggolz was vice president of the Reston, Va.-based DMG for 30 years and was executive director of the firm's three longest-tenured clients: the Sports Lawyers Association, American Brachytherapy Society and the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals.

"Rick was a valued member of our DMG team. He provided outstanding leadership to DMG and its clients for over 30 years," DMG CEO Bill Drohan said in a statement. "His quick wit and concern for others helped him to cultivate many friendships through his work. He will certainly be missed by his clients and colleagues."

In addition to his work in association management, Guggolz was a lifelong sports fan, who recently authored the fourth edition of "The History of Northern Region and Virginia High School Boys Basketball."

He is survived by a wife, son and daughter.
